James Burrows
ANALYST - climate change & carbon markets
James holds an MSc in Biodiversity, Conservation and Management from the University of Oxford and an MA in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge. Alongside his studies, James worked as a research assistant for a project developing a methodology to determine carbon sequestration in rewilded scrubland habitats. He also delivered educational sessions to aspiring ecologists on field-based carbon measurement.
Before joining HAMERKOP, James worked for a carbon credit intermediary, vetting the quality and integrity of nature-based solutions. He revised and expanded the organisation’s biodiversity vetting criteria and delivered detailed assessments of both carbon projects and methodologies to determine their suitability for high‑quality carbon portfolios.
At HAMERKOP, James supports a range of projects, including Nature-based Solutions and clean cooking.
