Christophe Boyer

Consultant - climate change & carbon markets

Christophe studied ecological restoration at the University of Victoria before earning his MSc in Forest and Conservation Sciences from the University of British Columbia, Canada. In his graduate studies, he evaluated the effects of nitrogen-urea fertilization on western redcedar growth, soil carbon stocks and GHG fluxes on Haida Gwaii, B.C. His analysis will provide a baseline dataset to inform future management decisions for indigenous-owned Taan Forest products and has contributed to ongoing research for the Government of B.C. Forest Carbon Initiative.

Previously, he worked as a team leader on several silvicultural projects in coastal B.C., including riparian forest restoration for wildlife habitat on Haida Gwaii, and forest fire mitigation with the Haisla First Nation. He has experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders throughout the life cycle of a restoration project and is a strong advocate for indigenous-led participation in forest resource management. He is passionate about forest conservation and restoration.

At Hamerkop, Christophe will be supporting a range of assignments, with a particular focus on forest carbon accounting for the development of REDD+ projects and quantifying the fraction of non-renewable biomass for energy access programs.
